About Our Founder

Angela Bricker, Dip.CBST is the founder and head trainer of From the Ground Up.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree, a Diploma in Canine Behavior Science and Technology from the Companion Animal Sciences Institute, and is a Dog Trainer & Behavior Consultant, having graduated from a two year apprenticeship program in Calgary under Cat Harbord of Impawsible Possible in May 2016. Angela is a proud member of the Alberta Force Free Alliance, and an International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants supporting member, She has attended seminars including the International
Association of Animal Behavior Consultants 2019 and 2020 Conferences, Aggression in Dogs Seminar with Michael Shikashio and Trish McMillan Loehr in May 2018, the Dr. Karen Overall Veterinary Behavior Seminar in April 2018, the Canine Science Symposium in April 2016, and has completed Tellington TTouch Training course work in February 2017.  Angela successfully completed Michael Shikashio's Aggression in Dogs Master Course in 2020, the IAABC Working with Clients Mentorship in April 2019 and the IAABC Feline Behavior Course in May 2016.  
She has also logged hundreds of hours volunteering at a local animal rescue, and volunteers at the Calgary Public Library.

Angela believes in using force-free methods and techniques supported by scientific principles. She has a passion for continued education on such topics as behaviorism and ethology, and canine cognition, and she believes learning should never stop!  Angela loves to strengthen the human-canine bond through learning and understanding.
